This is something which ambitious cyclists and enthusiastic spectators
cannot miss: after a long break, the Bavarian-Bohemian Cycling Marathon
will take place in Viechtach in 2011. It passes right through the
Bavarian and Bohemian National Parks, on four different routes. Whether
you are a cycling family or a racing cyclist – there is something for
every age and every level of fitness.
This event is historic:
The first marathon was organised at the beginning of the 1990s by the RC
Avanti Viechtach cycling club, through the Bavarian and Bohemian
Forests. In 2012, the town of Viechtach and the organisers, the RC
Avanti cycling club, and media partner „Fahrrad News“ want to bring this
uniquely beautiful cycling event back to life.
3 routes will be available for participants on 5th August 2012
from the 78 kilometres and 135 kilometres to the cross border marathon route
of more than 225 kilometres with the punishing height differential of 3,500 metres.
All three routes are well protected and require
plenty of determination and stamina. The reward for this hard work is
the quiet roads, almost traffic free, through the Bavarian and Bohemian
National Parks, which will be new to most cyclists.
